Exploring Big Canoe with Atlanta Trails Online

AtlantaTrailsOnline

As we excitedly announced in July, we have teamed up with the Atlanta Trails crew to create a brand new digital experience for our website. These new interactive pages, map, photograph and detail every mile of our extensive, award-winning trail system. Each trail guide features detailed descriptions, helpful photos, interactive maps, and parking information to help you make the most out of each adventure into the woods.

Atlanta Trails is the Southeast’s premiere online magazine for hikers, trail runners, and adventurers. With detailed route information and photographs of the many exciting trails in the region, it’s a priceless resource for anyone who loves to venture into the backcountry.

Awarded “Hiking Community of the Year” for 2015 by Real Estate Scorecard, Big Canoe has a network of trails suitable for any skill level. The unpaved Lower Falls Trail offers a moderate challenge, at 1.5 miles each way. The nearby Jeep Trail (Upper and Lower) allow owners of 4x4s to experience the thrill of driving off-road, crossing several streams and exploring a historic cabin along the way.

Those craving a bigger challenge will enjoy the steep Nancy Womack Trail, an almost 3-mile round trip that climbs nearly 1200 feet to some of the highest points in Big Canoe. For an easy ramble on level ground, try the 1-mile round trip Lake Trail, which meanders around beautiful Lake Disharoon and includes a picturesque long wooden bridge, plus views of the famous Big Canoe rock slide.

No matter your fitness level, Big Canoe’s hiking system offers something for everyone. Check out the new pages and maps HERE and we can’t wait to see you on the trails!
