Here comes another gorgeous North Georgia summer! With so many exciting summer events inside the gates of Big Canoe, don’t forget that there is also plenty of fun to be had just beyond them. Make the most of the season with these entertaining events:
• The 12th Annual Wing & Rock Fest takes place June 3-4 in Canton. Live acts will perform on the Metro PCS stage, including tribute and cover bands as well as School of Rock performances. Wing vendors will compete, and chicken wings and other foods will be available at each participating vendor, so bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a big appetite to this family-friendly festival.
• The Dahlonega Arts & Wine Festival, sponsored by Chestatee Artists, showcases high quality arts and crafts plus jazz performances. Held May 20-21, this cultural experience takes place in downtown Dahlonega and includes a wine garden with local and regional wines and a juried art show.
• First Friday Night Concert Series, also in Dahlonega, features the diversity of the area’s local musicians every month. Bring a picnic supper to Hancock Park and enjoy the summer air in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. This free series is held on the first Friday of each month from April through October.
• Gibbs Gardens features special events throughout the season, all free with admission. Partake in talks about gardening to help you become a green thumb at home. Enjoy the Twilight Live Music Series,featuring a rich variety of local bands including,Loose Shoes, The Atlanta Machine, and Big Canoe’s own favorite, Pioneer Chicken Stand Band.
